Asian Carp aka Harbingers of Doom

Asian Carp

DNA of  a breed of fish commonly referred to as Asian Carp has been found north of a multi-million dollar barrier built on the Mississippi River designed to keep the fish out of Lake Michigan. The fish feed on algae and other assortments of plant life that native fish of Lake Michigan eat and AN ELITE TEAM OF TOP SCIENTISTS believe that if the fish make it there it will ravage the ecosystem of the lake. The fish were brought here for the purpose of cleaning up the algae from fish farmers ponds in the south and managed to get into the Mississippi from flooding.

A nice bit to end on:

“This is absolutely an emergency,” said Joel Brammeier, acting president of the Alliance for the Great Lakes, who said that recreational boating on the lakes could also be severely damaged if the carp arrived. (Elsewhere, Mr. Brammeier said, the silvery fish, which can grow to 100 pounds, sometimes leap, hitting boaters.)
